The Friday Rant Club – can someone add an extra hour onto the day?

Is it just me or are there too few hours in the day to get everything done?

I don’t think I’m being terribly unreasonable or even taking too much on but it definitely feels as if I need there to be more time.

Perhaps it’s because it’s getting darker earlier and dark in the morning when I go to work but it feels as if some time in the last month someone has stripped some hours out of the day.
I’m not asking for one of those time expander things from Harry Potter but more for there to be an extra dedicated hour in the day that I can allocate purely for me.  Time to have a bath on my own, to sit down and finish one of the far too many half done craft projects, to read a book, to blog, to batch cook food.

Everywhere I look there are things that I should have done but that I’ve run out of time to do.

Quite frankly 24 hours aren’t enough and I need more!

Just so long as I can insist that the extra hour doesn’t get sucked into being full of work, bedtime, chores or any of the dull stuff.  I’m not interested in having it if that’s the case.

Anyone else feel that there aren’t enough hours in the day?

The Friday Rant Club is a chance to get those niggles, those irritants, those things that make you want to throw a toddler-stylee tantrum off your chest before the weekend.

Go on, let it all out and if you feel like it there’s a rather nice little button over there on the right to show you that you like a bit of a rant

I’m looking for some guest ranters – if you’d like to get something off your chest send me an email or mention it to me on Twitter. Any subject, just has to be something that has really got your goat

  • Our conversation over tea tonight went – “what would you like to do at the weekend Giles?” – go to the park, “what would you like to do at the weekend Alice?” – go swimming and to soft play (she’ll be lucky…), “what would you like to do at the weekend Daddy?” – *cue Giles* – it’ll be really boring jobs won’t it Daddy – no Giles, I’d like to do bundling with you and Alice. Pause. “What would you like to do at the weekend Mummy?” – but I’ll be taking everyone else where they want to go won’t I?. Oh yes.

If you find that hour, let me know the secret? x

  • Right now, there’s not enough hours for sleeping for me. But that could be more to do with the sleep habits of my youngest than anything else. As long as the extra hours were hours where I didn’t feel utterly exhausted, I’ll second your motion for more hours in the day 🙂

Condsidering I started work at 8am, paused briefly at 4.15pm to collect the child from his minder, did some more work for about an hour until I had to start dinner, tidy up, put said child to bed etc, and then carried on working for another couple of hours, I’d say yes, an extra hour would be lovely.

    I feel EXACTLY the same!
Today on to ‘do list’ was, Halloween crafts, bake cookies, change beds, iron work stuff, walk dog as family, work on blog set up, dye scary roots (mine).
I have only managed the Halloween crafty stuff…

I need an extra week I think!

  • […] Muddling Along Mummy  has so much going on she asks can some just add an extra hour onto the day […]

  • There most definitely are not enough days – especially as the children get older so the amount of evening is reduced!
