Technophobes Training Club – backing up your blog

Horrible things can go wrong and you can end up with your blog disappearing, In A Bun Dance recently blogged about a friend’s blog getting deleted – psk all gone in a moment.  Its horrid to think about.

So what to do to ensure you can keep your blog posts for posterity?

Back it up.

Backing up in Blogger
Go into the settings tab and select export blog – it’ll save a file to your hard drive.

Backing up in WordPress
Sorry no pictures here because I’ve still not managed to go over to WordPress but the process is much the same.  Go to tools – export and then hit the button to download export file.  Again it’ll save a file onto your hard drive.

Go on, go away and give it a go and try to remember to do it regularly.

There are also sites that will let you publish your blog as a pdf file for printing for a small fee – they’ll take all the comments and pictures too which looks nice.
