>That was the week that was

I have survived my first week back at work!

And to be honest all I really aimed to do this week was to survive. So the fact I have made it into the office without forgetting anything important, have made lots of phonecalls and been reasonably coherent in meetings is all a big plus.

Turning off my out of office notification on Monday morning felt very strange – as if everything and yet nothing had changed.

I’ve also got into a pumping routine. I still can’t say I like it much but I’m pumping three feeds a day and so far getting off enough to satisfy Babygirl.

And last night I had dinner with my best friend to celebrate surviving this week and being back and it was fun (possibly helped a lot by us only being able to get a 6.30pm table so I didn’t have to stay up too much past my bedtime).

Next week I’m going to get used to wearing heels all day again – my feet seem to have lost the knack whilst I’ve been out of the office.

    >I'm in absolute awe of you H, I could never, ever have managed the pumping. You are an bona fide hero, and don't you let anyone ever make you think otherwise.

Well done on your first week! XX

    >Well done, what an achievement to get through the week and a meal. Heals well that is another matter entirely. I still can not wear them 5 years later!!

    >Delighted the first week went well, fair play to you managing the pumping too:) Jen.

    >Kudos to you!! Well done!!!!

    >I totally admire you pumping 3 times a day. I do it once a day just to get out of doing one of the many night feeds and I hate it. Such a chore. I think if I did it as much as you do I would give up bf.
Really admire your commitment. You deserve one of Young Mummy's gold stars this week

    >Well done you, glad you got through the week AND got the pumping on track. Far better than I ever managed!

    >Well done you – and it sounds like it is all really ok. Immensely impressive. I have the same pump – very good; much better than first time round when I tried to do it with a manual one.

    >now I know I'm thinking ahead waaaay too far, but having had a horrible time pumping when I returned to work last time, and being in awe of you managing to pump 3 feeds (I was delighted if I managed 1 feed, later a half feed was a success) – can I ask which pump you use?

    >Welcome back, the first week is the worse. That said, I think I only truly regained what little sanity I have ever had when I started back in the adult world again.
Pumping? Souless and dull, I had to do mine in the exec toilet. I recommend a copy of the book you've always wanted to read. I got through War and Peace!

    >Well done! And like the others I am completely in awe of you pumping, I gave up before going back to work because leaking in front of a class of teenagers was just not an option. Still not got back into heels though, and it's been six years!

    >Well done for surviving your first week, and with the pumping too. I remember how odd it felt in the first few days back, but once you settle into a new routine it's fine. I found the same with the (not very high) heels – soon got used to wearing them again. Sounds like you're doing great.

    >Yey! First week over, it can only get better (except the commuting). I hope its all good this week xx

  • Emma

    >Well Done on surviving the week!! Good luck with the heels! You are a brave lady! 😀 x

  • angelsandurchinsblog

    >Congratulations on being back. Hope you're enjoying being able to drink a coffee/tea without it going cold or being knocked over. Keep on pumping!

    >Well done for surviving the week.

Returning to work is a little scary isnt it? Rather like the first day at work.

I hope you have managed to recover all of your belongings now.

  • Muddling Along Mummy

    >Thanks for all your lovely comments – pumping is not a great deal of fun but despite everything I'm still keeping up with demand

I've finally managed to recover most of my stuff (low salt soy sauce and two small pinks missing in action though …)

Second week going much better than first !

  • Emma

    >Well done you. Sure it will get easier as the weeks go by even with wearing heels!!!

  • Crystal Jigsaw

    >Really pleased that you got through the first week and are looking forward to the second. Rather you than me in those heels!

    >Hooray! Congratulations xx
